Five Generations of the Wachenheim Family.

The following was compiled in 1960, by my grandfather's sister (either Rose or Alice). This is quoted verbatum, including typos, punctuation, and style, as faithfully as the blog program allows:

"
Ambrose Wachenheim, Born I834---Died I895.
Born at Reingsheim, Germany.

Rosa Mutshler- born I832- died I913-
Married to Ambrose Wachenheim, in Germany.
Grandpa had a brother Joe, who lived in Sevastopol, Iowa.
Died in I903. There was one other brother who died in
Reingsheim. Germany..

Joseph and grandpa built a bwerery an Herbolzheim, and it
was still operating in I9I0, when Lula was in Germany.
Grandpa came to Quincy , and lived here quite awhile,
then moved to St.Louis, and He was a contractor.

In Reingsheim, there is a forrest called "Walt" (woods)
Quite a good size, and there is a sign on the fence with
the Wachenheim's name.

Grandma had three sisters, one lived in Paris. There were
two brothers, Charles and Ambrose. Grandma came from a very
aristocratic family.

Grandmas's mother was a midwife for over fifty years, and
never lost a case. The covernor of the state of Baden presented
her with a gold medal for her fifty years of service.

Grandma attended a private girls school, and took sewing
and voice. She had a lovely alto voice, so they say.
The school still stood in I9I0, when Lula was there.
She walked I0 miles to Ettenheim to see the school and all
the landmarks where grandma trod. It was told to Lula that
grandma was the prettiest girl in Reingsheim.

Grandma had three children, Adolph, Fred, and Annie. All dead.
Papa was born August 8th I857, and died Dec. 7th I927.
Adolph Wachenheim was married to Anna Schurfeld, May 27th
I880. Mother died Dec. 26th I938. She was 78 when she died.

There were ten childres. Six died in infancy. except Rose Lawrence, Alice and Thelma. Thelma died Sept. 23d I95I.
At this date May 8th, I960, Rose, Lawrence and Alice are the only ones left of the third generation.

Lawrence, my brother, has three sons, Wadsworth, Lawrence Jr. and Arnold Lee. Fourth generation.

Lawrence Jr. has two sons, Richard and Daniel;--
