Lawrence Edwin Wachenheim as a young man

Lorenzo Edwin Wachenheim (my grandfather) born April 22, 1888 in Quincy Illinois. He had a colorful life, I think. He later went by Lawrence. I think that somewhere there is a birth certificate with the name Lorenzo.

As a young man he elisted into the military, and was in the Phillipines during insurrections after the US took the country in the Spanish American War (some echoes into the present, I think). He made an attempt at homesteading in Arkansas. He returned to Quincy, and married Anna Henrietta Herrmann, who was born April 3, 1892 in Quincy, Illinois. They had 3 sons - Wadsworth, Lawrence (my Dad) and Arnold.

As I collect information into this blog, I hope that I will be able to include some of his history.

His father was born Adolph Wachenheim in Baden Germany August 8, 1857. He later used the name Adam instead II gues for obvious reasons).

His mother was born Anna Maria Fredicker Schuerfeld in Quincy Illinois.
