Railroad Bridge.

Ambrose Wachenheim was a stone mason. He cut stones for this railroad bridge. The piers are still standing in the river bay, at Quincy Illinois. I cant say that he is on this postcard. He was born in Reingsheim Germany in about 1833 or 1834. , died in 1895 or 1896 (the dates in the chart are not certain.) He was my grandfather's grandfather.

These photos were passed on to me from my late parents, Lawrence & Maxine (Alcorn) Wachenheim. They had saved them in various boxes from the estates of grandfather (Lawrence Wachenheim Sr), and two great aunts (Emma Herrmann and Rose Wachenheim). There are also some documents. Many but not all lived in Quincy, Illinois, the town where I was born and grew up.

I'm posting these photos for family heritage and genealogy, for history, and for those interested in the past. I have also uploaded the genealogy onto ancestry.com. I'm also seeking someone who would like to own the originals.

Those boxes also contained unlabeled photos of many unknown persons. I'm posting some of those, especially of soldiers and military personnel. Most were from the era of the Philippine-American War and WWI.

As of Oct 2018, there are still hundreds of photos to scan and post. I post them as I have the opportunity.
